Mexican architects Arista Cero and Gina Góngora have renovated an old building in Merida, Mexico and transformed it into a hotel to accommodate travelers visiting the city. The building is located near one of the main avenues and very close to the historic center of the city.
The facade maintains the original color and the interior walls were scraped to showcase the different colors they have gone through. The old doors and windows were recycled and recovered.
An open space social niche connects the kitchen and the terrace. The area with a window serves as a study and resting area. The only bedroom in the house overlooks the terrace. The kitchen tiles are replaced with white polished cement and walls are scraped to reveal original colors.
The courtyard has three spaces, a water body, an area with two chairs on a gravel floor and a bench under the Huaya tree that provides shade in the morning.
