Chicago-based practice Searl Lamaster Howe Architects have built a weekend retreat located in the edge of a state park in central Michigan. The location for the weekend cottage was finalized after searching for five years across four states. The relaxing weekend home was built for a couple living in a lofted space nestled within the attic trusses of a converted church. The loft is located in the hearth of the bustling Wicker Park neighborhood. So the couple wanted a weekend getaway place with a direct connection to nature.
