Oleg Klodt Architectural Bureau has once again impressed with an exceptional design project: a modern penthouse in a beautifully reconstructed 19th-century building in Moscow’s Polyanka 44 neighborhood. This stunning residence is part of an elite residential complex made up of three historical buildings and five new ones, with the lobby interiors crafted by Oleg Klodt himself.
The owners of this penthouse are a young, creative couple with a passion for modern art and design. The wife, a renowned singer, had always dreamed of an interior that reflected their family values, needs, and lifestyle. The collaboration between the couple and the design team resulted in an interior that exudes lightness, warmth, and a deep sense of individuality.
The Heart of the Penthouse: A Spacious Terrace with Breathtaking Views
One of the standout features of this third-floor penthouse is its expansive terrace, which wraps around the entire perimeter of the apartment. The panoramic windows offer stunning views of the historic streets of Moscow and the peaceful courtyard. From the moment the designers stepped into the space, they were inspired by the potential to create a truly remarkable living environment.
A Geometric Layout Focused Around the Entrance Hall
The apartment’s layout revolves around the entrance hall, which serves as the central point of the design. The geometric arrangement of spaces radiates from this hub. To one side, there is a spacious, light-filled studio with an open kitchen and recreational area. Beyond the kitchen, a private section of the apartment features the master bedroom, a walk-in wardrobe, and a luxurious bathroom. On the opposite side, the future children’s bedroom and bathroom complement the overall design, maintaining harmony throughout the space.
A New Design Language for Oleg Klodt Architectural Bureau
This project marks a departure from Oleg Klodt’s usual neoclassical style, as the design team experimented with bold shapes and material combinations. Each piece of furniture and every detail in the décor is unique and carefully chosen to contribute to a modern and minimalist aesthetic. The result is a space where all elements, though independent, come together seamlessly.
The art concept for the penthouse includes carefully selected textiles, rugs, paintings, vases, and crockery, contributing to the overall harmonious feel of the home.
Nature-Inspired Details and Light-Filled Spaces
The entrance hall, featuring light-colored wood finishes, is home to the Horas coffee table by O&A. In the sitting room, the light green gradient wall color complements the plants on the terrace, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. A striking Avena chandelier, resembling blades of green grass with sparkling morning dew drops, hangs above the dining table, adding a touch of nature to the space.
The master bedroom features sliding panoramic windows that open to the lush terrace, evoking the feeling of a peaceful summer’s day spent on a veranda.
“We aimed to erase the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, achieving a visual unity that blends the exterior and interior,” said Oleg Klodt. Thanks to the expansive glass windows and the use of light wood and a green oak color palette, the apartment feels airy and light, creating a refreshing spring and summer ambiance that lasts year-round.
Conclusion: A Unique Blend of Modern Art, Nature, and Elegance
This penthouse in Polyanka 44 stands as a testament to the vision and creativity of Oleg Klodt Architectural Bureau. The combination of modern design, natural elements, and a strong connection between the indoors and outdoors makes this space a perfect reflection of the owners’ personalities and lifestyle.
