Czech practice DDAANN Architects have renovated the interiors of an apartment located in the neighbourhood of Negrelli´s viaduct in Karlín. The apartment is located in the top floor of one of the spectacular residential buildings in the area with pleasant view of the sky over Karlin yards.
From the architects, “The beautiful but harsh atmosphere of this neighbourhood has been imprinted into the interior, which is used as a rental apartment by foreign visitors of the Golden City throughout the year. We have preserved the original, time-tested tiles and the worn plank floor, and exposed the many layers of old, wildly colourful paint on the walls. Thanks to demolishing a wall, the two previously very claustrophobic rooms were transformed into one breathing, generous space. We’ve designed the furniture specifically for this space, including the kitchen, bathroom and a canopy bed.”
